Second Language Learning in Adults with ADHD
Research Question
Do adults with ADHD and neurotypical adults perform differently when learning second-language patterns through example-based presentation (Duolingo-style task)?
Approach
A controlled behavioral experiment was conducted to compare second language learning performance across groups under the same example-based learning conditions. Group differences were evaluated using both traditional significance testing and equivalence testing to assess whether learning performance differed meaningfully across groups.
Key Insight
Learning performance was comparable across groups in the tested environment, suggesting that example-based learning conditions supported participants similarly in this context.
Why It Matters
Learning technologies and educational experiences are often designed around assumptions about different user groups. This project found comparable learning performance across groups under the same conditions, highlighting the importance of evaluating differences through observed behavior rather than assuming different learning experiences are always necessary.
